Alki Point

Marking the spot where the first white settlers arrived in 1851, ready to found the new city of Seattle, Alki Point blends a strong history with a vibe reminiscent of a California beach town.   Quaint bungalows and trendy restaurants line the waterfront, while paved walking and bicycle trails link downtown Seattle with the base of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trails system on I-90.  Look out upon downtown Seattle from a different vantage point and see the city skyline reflected in the cool waters of Elliott Bay.

Home to one of the best stretches of sand in Seattle, wander Alki Beach, boasting spectacular views of Puget Sound and the Olympics, and watch the boats on Elliott Bay.  See the Alki Point Lighthouse, built in 1913, still in operation today.  It’s the place to be seen each summer when bronzed bodies, beach volleyball and barbecues become all the rage.  From rollerbladers and volleyball players to beachcombers, sunbathers, and the casual stroller, check out the lively scene at Alki.
