Oroville Train Depot Museum

In 1925, Oroville was named “Queen Tomato” for supporting a large tomato-canning factory, and a glory-days photo hangs in the Oroville Train Depot Museum representing this bustling era.  Housed in the original train depot, the museum displays artifacts and photography collections that bring to life the history of this colorful town.

The name Oroville means literally “gold town,” but it was tomatoes that put the community on the map. The title of Tomato Queen was quite the honor in these parts. A photo of her royal highness, Kathleen Prince, Tomato Queen of 1925, is part of an extensive archival collection housed in the museum. The rich and colorful history (red of course) of this area is beautifully captured in the artifacts and images displayed in the museum. Like many of the small museums throughout rural Washington, this is a superb cultural find in a scenic American town.
