Located in the midst of a hot and arid environment, Osoyoos Lake State Park provides welcome respite with its sandy shores, green lawns and shade trees. The lake is a popular spot for camping and water sports. Its sandy beaches and green lawns stretch into British Columbia, and there it’s known as the warmest lake in Canada.
Located at the mouth of the Okanogan River adjacent to Oroville and the Canadian Border, this 14-mile lake has room for plenty of play year-round. Shady trees and sandy shores combat the summer heat, while skating, snow playing and ice fishing add spice to the winter months. It was once a prime encampment area for Native Americans who came here for plentiful fish and game. The Indian name means “narrows” referring to where the lake narrows into the Okanogan River. Anglers can test their touch against the wily smallmouth bass, rainbow trout and kokanee. For more information, visit Osoyoos Lake State Park.
