Kamiak Butte County Park

Located 3 miles south of the city of Palouse on Highway 27, Kamiak Butte was once the bottom sand of an ancient sea, uplifted up by volcanic forces to a relatively towering height of 3,600 feet over the surrounding area. The Butte’s summit offers stunning views of the rolling hills of the Palouse landscape. From atop the butte, the Wallowa Mountains are visible more than 100 miles to the south. Kamiak Butte is now a county park and wildlife paradise that contains almost 3 acres of hiking trails, and immaculate picnic and camping facilities that fan throughout the grounds. This park is a haven for warblers, nuthatches, pygmy and great horned owls, and white-tailed deer.

Watchable Wildlife:
Pine Ridge Trail climbs 3.5 miles through mixed conifer forest to summit. The county offers guided tours in summer.
