An impressive variety of raptors ride the thermals above these grassy bluffs and basalt outcroppings. Watch for red-tailed hawks, ferruginous hawks, turkey vultures, prairie falcons, and golden eagles. Raptors also nest on cliffs. Yellow-bellied marmots and burrowing owls are also seen here. Wildflowers, including lupine and wild daisies, are abundant in spring.
Watchable Wildlife:
From the top of McBee Road, walk west on ridge to the radio tower and beyond. Be careful not to approach nesting raptors, as they are protected by law.
