Lake Roosevelt

In 1941, the completion of the Grand Coulee Dam created the beginning of a 150-mile long lake that was later named for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Lake Roosevelt is surrounded by a massive National Recreation Area of the same name which is a haven for boating, fishing, swimming, camping, canoeing and other water related outdoor activities. The lake has over 600 miles of shoreline and there are nearly 30 species of fish in the lake now, thanks to ongoing grassroots efforts to stock it with trout, "kokanee" (landlocked sockeye salmon) and walleye.
