The Grand Coulee Dam isn’t called grand for nothing. It’s the largest concrete dam in the nation, and the third largest electricity producer in the world. The dam’s Lake Roosevelt is popular with boaters and anglers - and if that’s not enough, there’s always the laser light shows which were introduced in the 80’s, and still a summer favorite today.
The dam dwarfs the great pyramids of Egypt and generates more power than a million locomotives. Its back waters create a forest-lined 151-mile lake popular with boaters, swimmers, fishermen and water skiers. Its stone face serves as an outdoor theater for nightly laser light shows from June through September. Tours of the dam are free; times vary by season.
