At Riffe Lake, bald eagles and barn owls compete with anglers to catch the trout and coho salmon found in this crystal reservoir with over 50 miles of shoreline. Formed by Mossyrock Dam, the tallest dam in Washington State, the lake winds for over 20 miles through forested hillsides. On the highway at the west end of Riffe Lake, the North Shore Fishing Access offers a close-up view of the dam.
With Mossyrock Park on the west end of the lake, and Taidnapam Park on the east end, the lake is well-equipped with recreational facilities for fun on the water. Boat launches at these parks as well as the Kosmos Road Boat Launch, offer anglers many opportunities to get out on the water. The Mossyrock Dam Overlook is also a popular place for shoreline fishing. Cutthroat, brown and rainbow trout, coho, catfish and bass are plentiful in these waters. Watch for the deer and elk commonly spotted on the lake shores.
