Mosquito Lake Road-Bald Eagle viewing spot
Seek out this prime spot for watching eagles, especially during the winter when they feed on spawning salmon. When the eagles are perched in the trees or swooping towards the river, most folks are lucky enough to see more than one of these regal birds. Traveling down Mosquito Creek Road, pull your car over just past the first bridge that crosses the North Fork of the Nooksack River. It's a spot known for its views of Bald Eagles. More than 600 bald eagles visit this area each year on their journey south. It’s almost not fair for the salmon and trout that swim these waters, the birds easily swoop in, clutch a fish in their talons and head to shore for a hearty meal. Grab your binoculars and peer down river for more feathered friends. It’s a sight not quickly forgotten seeing these majestic birds in their natural habitat.
