Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge
Abundant bird extravaganza! Spring birding hikes on the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge’s Kiwa and Oakes to Wetland Trails are an excellent way to see mallards, great blue herons, red-tailed hawks up close in their natural habitat.
Located on the shores of the Lower Columbia River, the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge contains a mosaic of wetlands, marshes and grasslands that provide excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Sandhill Cranes stay fall through spring, joined in winter by 15,000 Cackling and Canada Geese, plus swans, terns, stilts and plethora of ducks.
