Built in 1952, Box Canyon Dam is the first publicly owned dam in Washington and has provided Pend Oreille County residents with hydroelectrical services for over half a century. For the movie buff, the dam was a featured location in the Kevin Costner movie “The Postman." Many other local sites and residents were used in the movie.
