Museum of Glass

The Museum of Glass is Tacoma’s architectural showpiece, known for the tilted stainless steel cone which serves as a beacon to a stunning contemporary art museum as well as a symbol for the restoration of a waterway and the revitalization of a city. Sitting along the Thea Foss Waterway, the museum is in the heart of Tacoma's historic museum district.

In addition to thoughtfully planned exhibits, there is the Hot Shop Amphitheater with live, ongoing demonstrations of glasswork in progress and the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. The Museum was envisioned as a center that would nurture artists, celebrate the dramatic new Studio Glass movement and encourage creativity.  This vision is realized through the exhibitions in the galleries, the art installations on the outdoor plazas, the hands-on art studio, and the Museum’s diverse educational programs.

Be sure to check out the museum's "Hot Lunch" program, where visitors eat lunch while watching a live glass blowing demonstration in the Hot Shop.  For more information, visit the Museum of Glass.
