Mount Rainier National Park

Mount Rainier National Park offers excellent opportunities for scenic drives, hiking, and mountain climbing. Mountain roads provide stunning views and access to a variety of hiking trails and other sites.

Oh the possibilities!  Explore the Longmire Historic District and see Christine Falls or Narada Falls on the way to Paradise. At Paradise, see the Jackson Visitor Center, the Historic Paradise Inn, or hike a trail through the world-famous subalpine meadows. On the Stevens Canyon drive, view Box Canyon, or stop in at the old growth forest at the Grove of the Patriarchs.  In the summer months, Sunrise provides outstanding views of Mount Rainier and its glaciers, and trails through subalpine meadows. The Carbon River rainforest and Mowich Lake area, is often overlooked by first time visitors, but offers exquisite views and backcountry splendor.

Wildlife viewing opportunities depend on the time of year, the location within the park, and, to a very large degree, the number of people using the campgrounds, trails, and four visitor centers- at Longmire, Paradise, Ohanapecosh, and Sunrise. Each visitor center has information on nearby trails, habitats, and associated wildlife.
