Bogachiel River borders groves and meadows where herd of Roosevelt elk plus black-tailed deer graze beneath trees of thrushes, kinglets, woodpeckers. Dippers bob, raptors hunt, Ruffed Grouse drum in spring.

60 acres of meadows, forest and the Bogachiel River.
Spring brings Varied Thrushes, Savannah Sparrows, Ruby-crowned Kinglets; Ruffed Grouse males drum for mates. Check skies for Red-tailed Hawks, Ospreys, Bald Eagles; trees for Red-breasted Sapsuckers, Northern Flickers; and river for American Dippers.
Walk past silver/yellow gates to open meadows, follow elk trails through woods. Bonus: Herd of 40+ Roosevelt elk plus black-tailed deer.
From Hwy 101 at milepost 186.5, turn south onto Fuhrman Rd. Drive 0.2 mile. Park at “End of County Road” sign. See Olympic Loop of the Great Washington State Birding Trail.
