Sunrise
Sunrise is located at 6,100 feet, and is accessible to visitors only during the summer months, due to heavy snow fall in the winter. At the top, a display in the shingle-sided Sunrise Visitor Center tells the geologic story of Mount Rainier. The Center also houses restrooms, a grill and gift shop. Several hiking trails, many of them leading to scenic overlooks along tranquil paths, are suitable for non-hikers. Sunrise is reachable via Highway 410, the only road in Washington to be designated a National Scenic Byway.
