Gardens

Whether it’s the friendly climate or the long growing season, Washington State is home to legions of extremely dedicated gardeners whose labor beautifies neighborhoods and communities all over the state. Here you’ll find a wonderful variety of lush botanical gardens and conservatories, arboretums, reserves, nurseries and cutting gardens. Generally speaking, April through September is prime time for Washington blooms, blossoms and foliage, but many of the destinations listed here are beautiful any time of the year. Maybe you’d like to marvel at the botanical diversity of Seattle’s Washington Park Arboretum, which is basically a 230-acre open-air museum. Or indulge your singular love of lilacs at the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens, a historic Victorian farmhouse and garden in Woodland. Whatever makes your garden grow, Washington State gets two green thumbs up.
