Economic Significance Study
This study shows how the travel industry fits into the Washington State economy. It uses a measure that applies to all of the state's major industries - Gross State Product, comparable to Gross National Product (GNP) used at the national level. Key findings include documenting the major influence in tax revenue creation from this industry, very important for funding public programs throughout the state. Findings also show that, compared to other major industries in the state, the Travel Industry demonstrates a continuous and stable growth in payroll. This study is valuable for economists and for state, county and local officials interested in prioritizing those economic development activities that will influence their employment and tax base.
