In the homelands of the Nez Perce people, the confluence for the Clearwater and Snake rivers was a major milestone for the Corps of Discovery’s passage through the Northwest. Here, they continued down the waters that would lead them to the Columbia River and ultimately to their long sought after goal, the Pacific Ocean.
