Snake River/Salmon River Relationship
William Clark made a brilliant geographic deduction; the waters of the Snake River coming in from the south at the confluence with the Clearwater River, were the same waters he had seen weeks earlier during the Corps’ time in Sacagawea’s homelands with the Lemhi Shoshoni, at the headwaters of the Salmon River (a tributary to the Snake).
