PUYALLUP, Wash. - Many Northwest residents know about A Victorian Country Christmas, a holiday extravaganza that recreates a Victorian-era village. The event is a "total immersion" experience featuring Victorian stores offering hundreds of unique gifts and tasty food, as well as "how-to" demonstration theaters.

But what draws many people back to the event - now gearing up for its 18th season at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup - is the entertainment. This year's attractions include new family entertainment venues, 20 stage shows each day, strolling musicians, the Singing Nativity, a Victorian-themed carousel and, of course, Santa and his helpers.

Adding to the fun: all of the participating merchants and artisans stay true to the Victorian theme by wearing period costumes throughout the event.

Back by popular demand will be several crowd-pleasing acts, including the Stardust Follies, Silver Spurs Country Western Revue and the Konzelman Family. New to the Holiday Jubilee Theater this year is the fantastic bluegrass band Wickline. In addition, A Victorian Country Christmas will introduce a spectacular new pavilion, "The Sugar Plum Village," where show-goers can enter a Christmas fantasy environment with Santa and Mrs. Claus. There they can enjoy exciting holiday stage shows for the entire family, giant dancing topiary bears and a 20-foot "crystal castle."

All of the entertainment featured at A Victorian Country Christmas is family oriented, suitable for everyone from children to grandparents. Among the highlights:

    * Stardust Follies is a troupe of professional singers and dancers over the age of 55 with a rich history in Vaudeville and USO. A sought-after performance group, the Stardust Follies creates an elaborate Vegas-style revue each year featuring beautiful costumes and the best music, comedy and dance.

    * The Silver Spurs Country Western Revue features a talented cast of singers, dancers, acrobats and physical comedians that bring the "wild west" to life in this fun-filled show. Exciting dance numbers, comedy routines and the Furnstahl Family Singers make the Silver Spurs Country Western Revue a must see show.

    * The Konzelman Family is a group of award-winning fiddlers that delight every audience. Greg, Joan and their five children bring audiences to their feet with their lively musical revue featuring Christmas and festive bluegrass music.

    * Wickline features seasoned bluegrass musicians that perform throughout the Northwest, but are best known for their outstanding Christmas show. Audiences will laugh and sing along as Wickline performs medleys of Christmas favorites.

    * The Enchanted Christmas Show, featuring the Sugar Plum Kids, will invite children of all ages into a storybook Christmas. An incredible cast of young people between the ages of 7-14 will delight audiences with singing, dancing and comedy in this magical show.

    * The Westcoast Zuchini Brothers features Zip and Zap Zucchini in a Vaudeville style comedy and magic show. Zip and Zap deliver a ton of fun by offering one and all an opportunity to participate and play along.

    * The Singing Nativity, featuring more than 100 voices, will bring classic Christmas music to life with the retelling of the story of Christ's birth.

    * Strolling musicians include the Evergreen Brass and the Christmas Belles from the Spirit of Sound Singers.
