Lynyrd Skynyrd with special opening acts Bob Rivers’ Morning Show Band, Spike and the Impalers and PD’G

When:
Friday, December 16, 2005 · 7:30 pm

Where:
Everett Events Center

What:
The Bob Rivers Morning Show (KZOK 102.5 FM) personalities, Bob Rivers and Spike O’Neill, and their band Spike and the Impalers will open for legendary rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd, who were recently nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The live classic rock alter ego of the popular morning show features namesake “Spike O’Neill,” performing gutsy spot-on tributes reminiscent of Jack Black’s wild antics in the movie “School Of Rock”.

“This is one heck of a Christmas present for us,” O’Neill says. “It just blows me away.”

O’Neill fronts the band with his trademark kilt; Rivers positions himself on keyboards. Rounding out the talent are veteran rockers Dudley Taft on lead and rhythm guitar, formerly of Sweetwater and Second Coming, Jeff Kathan on drums, Lynn Sorensen on bass guitar, and Joe Shikany taking on lead and rhythm guitar, of the Paul Rodgers Band. But this is truly a homegrown working man’s band at heart. Jay Powers, a mild-mannered capital investor by day, adds additional keyboards. The Impalers also feature Mark Russell on guitar and their biggest crowd pleaser, 17-year old guitar phenomenon Ian Crawford.

Also added to the Lynyrd Skynyrd line up is PD’G, a strong southern rock sound that’s fiery with reckless country throw-downs filled primarily with songs about mid-America lovin’ and flecks of spiritual musings and parody.

"I've always been a huge Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, so to be on tour with them and opening shows and getting respect from their fans for my music is a dream come true," said Steve Richards Mahoney, singer-songwriter of PD'G band.
