BPA AUDITIONS for “Gypsy” December 5 & 7 at The Playhouse

Bainbridge Performing Arts’ AUDITIONS for Gypsy are Monday and Wednesday, December 5 & 7, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at The Playhouse, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Interested parties are requested to prepare one Broadway-style song and one 1-2 minute dramatic or comedic monologue. Gypsy includes four roles for young boys and five roles for young girls (ages 7-12); six roles for older males and eight roles for older girls (ages 13-30); five or six roles for older adult males (age 30 and older) and 9 roles for older adult females (age 30 and older – six as showgirls and three as other). Those auditioning are requested to bring an acting resume plus head shot, if available. Resumes should elaborate on dance and voice experience, i.e., types of dance, vocal range and experience.

Directed by Karolynn Flynn, Gypsy is based on the true story of entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee, and tells about her climb from humble beginnings in show business, to stardom in burlesque. Gypsy is filled with lots of comedy, a few tears and great Sondheim songs, including Let Me Entertain You, Together, Wherever We Go and Everything's Coming Up Roses.
