Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to present The Playhouse Gallery December Exhibit: "Landscape Photography & The Contemplation of Nature" featuring works by Photographer Greg Davis throughout December.

Greg Davis perceives the photographic process as an excellent medium for capturing the beauty and tranquility of the natural world around us. “While the painter may produce a wonderful and personal interpretation of a scene over a period of time,” he reflects, “the photograph has its strength in seizing the moment and portraying the subject exactly as it exists at that time. The challenge - and what makes landscape photography so enjoyable to me - is to compose the subject in such a manner that the viewer is presented with a view of nature that hopefully stimulates contemplation as well as a new appreciation of that small part of our environment.”

Greg certifies his photography as “all natural.” His images were not enhanced with the use of any special filters, or digital enhancing programs in their production. He explains, “certain film types do have better color saturations and I have chosen one specific type that allows the best range for dealing with the landscapes that I shoot. But other than that, what you see is as close as I can make it to the way I saw it at that time! Enjoy!

"Landscape Photography & The Contemplation of Nature" appears in The Playhouse lobby throughout December. Representative works are available for viewing on line at www.theplayhouse.org. Free, and open to the public, The Playhouse Gallery showcases regional artists in exhibits on a rotating monthly schedule at 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island.
