The Actively Great Outdoors
With two major mountain ranges, three stunning National Parks, hundreds of miles of Pacific coastline and countless rivers, lakes and trails,
Washington has spaces and places for all of the outdoor activities that you love.
At the heart of Olympic National Park lies one of the great old growth, temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest.
Arguably the most stunning vista in Olympic National Park, Hurricane Ridge offers a breathtaking panorama of snowcapped mountains
and river valleys of old-growth forests.
Olympic National Park protects more than 70 miles of Washington’s Pacific coast, between Portage Head to the north and Kalaloch to the south. This spectacularly beautiful wind-swept coastline is a paradise for walking, hiking, beachcombing, bird watching, clamming and much more. While approximately 20 miles of this protected coastline is accessible from Highway 101, there are also lengthy stretches of unbroken coastal wilderness accessible only by foot and largely unchanged and untouched—a true rarity.
