The Whatcom Museum campus occupies three buildings in downtown Bellingham's cultural district, two with regular public hours (Old City Hall and the Lightcatcher). The Lightcatcher building houses fine art galleries, the Family Interactive Gallery (a learn-through-play children's museum), a cafe, and the Museum Store. Old City Hall is a historic 1892 Victorian building housing history exhibits, photos from the museum's archive collection, and a rotunda room for events and performances. The museum is a non-profit organization operated jointly by the City of Bellingham and the Whatcom Museum Foundation. It is accredited nationally by the American Association of Museums and is a Smithsonian Institution affiliate.
